I'm Dreaming of...

A White Kitchen

I'm sure I'll have to keep the black and white tile...but I can work with it.

I think this may have to be the next project I tackle in the house.
But I'm not going to lie...it has me shaking in my boots.

Finishing it by October 7th would be ideal, so I could link it up to the Roomspiration blog hop and link party.

However, I am also thinking that it might be to freshen up the bedroom
with some new paint and accessories...

I think either way, I'm ready for a lighter look...

Mini Makeover...

With fall around the corner, I've been outside taking advantage of the cool mornings here in NM.
Our yard is in dire need of attention.

Honestly, I have never seen as many weeds pop up as quickly as they do in our yard and flower beds....maybe it's just that neither Alfred or myself particularly enjoys yardwork....so we let it slip a little too often.

One thing is for sure, the weeds drive me insane and with the weather getting cooler I decided it was time to take control of the yard, so we don't have the same problems next summer as we have since we moved in, in 2008.

So I did a mini-makeover on the front. I didn't plant anything new (I'm pretty sure this isn't the right time to plant new plants). I weeded our flower bed really well, tilled up the dirt, ripped out some of the old, ugly plants and put down a weed guard and fresh bark.

Next summer we will do more. I just found out that we're going to be living in this house at least another 2 years....so I think it's time to get the outside in order.

This is what I've been working on lately....

Now that that is under control...I'm thinking about new projects to work on inside this fall and winter.

Tell Me Tuesday...Bam or Slam!

Wow! It was close last week....18 BAM'S and 13 SLAM'S
(and a few could take them or leave them).

I learned something new Target and Homegood's have some great one's for a reasonable price...so if you're in the market, maybe you'll get lucky.

Summer Fun Series: Lindsay + Lindsay from Sadie +Stella

Today I would like to welcome the Lindsay's of the super fun Sadie + Stella. They are here to share a few of their favorites from the summer and wrap up The Summer Side of Life series.

Hi! We are Lindsay + Lindsay from the blog Sadie + Stella! We can't get enough of summer and wanted to share a few of our favorite things with you all! Although we are sad to see the summer season draw to an end, fall is on the horizon and that will bring a slew of our other favorite seasonal items. Until then, let's focus on the fun and frills of Summer. Thanks Elizabeth for such a fun series!

1. Mermaid nails. We saw this on Cupcakes and Cashmere it had us from hello. Ummmm...bright colored nails? Check. Glitter? Check. What is not to love?! We will be carrying this trend into seasons to come.

2. Savannah Fizz. It's a drink we created on a girls weekend in Savannah, hence the name. It is hands down, THE BEST summer drink there is, in our humble opinion. It is light and refreshing. It gets the job done.

3. Time for PROJECTS!! Lindsay {Sadie's mom} is a teacher and summertime allows for more diys. Throughout the summer we completed the rug upholstered ottoman AND finally finished reupholstering a wing back that had been waiting patiently for some love. This makes us happy girls.

4. Bright, fun statement pieces. We've had fun hosting a few giveaways to add to our readers accessory collections. Necklaces, bracelets...you name it!

5. Entertaining! There is nothing better in our minds than a summer soiree filled with good friends and good food.

Thanks again for having us Elizabeth! We loved recalling our fave things from the summer!

AH-MAZING Airstream Renovation!

I was scrolling through twitter last night, and found this AH-MAZING Airstream renovation in the home and garden section of The New York Times. Trust me, if you dream of traveling around in a vintage silver bullet...this one will not disappoint.



As most of you know, my hubby and I are in the process of renovating a 1968 Airstream Overlander. For more on that click here and here. We have just started really working on it again, but it is coming along slowly (with the goal to be finished next spring).



This renovation definitely inspires me to keep moving along....check it out.



This is a renovation of a 1969 Airstream, done by Rachel Horn, an interior designer from LA and her husband.



The couple found and bought the Airstream on Craiglist for $5,000. The couple then allotted $20,000.00 for renovations, but are way over budget.



The Airstream was designed in a Moorish theme using moorish arches, fabrics with touches of turkish and persian accessories. To read the rest of the article, click here.

Originally, the designer wanted to use bamboo flooring and carrerra marble on the countertops, but they were too heavy, so she went with corian on the countertops instead.

What did you think? I could definitely see living a nomadic living traveling around the country in that Airstream....I'm hoping ours turns out 1/2 as gorgeous.

Ready to see ours?

I took a couple shots to show the progress. Currently, my husband has removed some of the flooring that had been water damaged and is working on protecting the underbelly with a product called POR-15, a rust preventive paint.

Alfred had to remove some of the frame from the back to replace the rotten floor, and remove some of the wall panels to get to the frame to remove it.

We are now thinking that we will strip the cream vinyl off the interiors panels, leaving the interior with an aluminum finish.

The next step, re-install the floor and then he is moving onto the electrical and plumbing systems.



After that is the fun part...that's where I'll start helping. We will be removing the vinyl, refinishing the cabinetry, installing new flooring and last but not least decorating.

I can't believe it's already September 1st, where did the summer go!
