BAM... BRASS IS BACK!!
It was unanimous, 24 of you voted BAM and only 2 SLAM.
(That is, as long as it is not the cheap 80's brass, that will always be a SLAM in my book!)
This week's BAM or SLAM...
Feather Pendant Lighting, are they ethereal or overboard?

Feather Pendant Lighting, are they ethereal or overboard?
I've been thinking about these a lot lately, after seeing that fantastic DIY (no 3). I quite like the way they look, but I would need to take it down every few months and shake the dust out, outside....might not be the most practical!
ReplyDeleteI think they're pretty, but like the above post, I would be obsessing about the dust situation.
ReplyDeletei was going to say the exact same thing... i think it would make me sneeze. slam.
ReplyDeleteI love brass against the white of a bathroom it looks so much more chic & classy dont you think? white & gold in a bathroom is my favourite. Love those feather pendants too
ReplyDeleteI would say they are a Bam for a whimsical look.
ReplyDeletePractical--probably a slam, but I have to go with a BAM. I am with jandjhome---I love how whimsical they look. Love.
ReplyDeleteThat's a slam for me. But I have been known to change my mind on occasion!
ReplyDeleteSlam - not only would it collect dust like it was it's full time job, it kinda looks like my swiffer duster!!!
ReplyDeleteSlam. Just not a fan. Might have to deal with my bird phobia...
ReplyDeleteBAM! Love em! I think if you want to create a bit of drama without being too crazy then this is the way to go. (Gotta agree with a comment above, I bet that get really dusty though)!
ReplyDeleteBam. Why not.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan - slam. But, I agree that it does add whimsy!!
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm going to have to go with slam this week. :( They just look off to me.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is a slam on this one.
ReplyDeletePersonally I'm going to go with a slam may not be the easiest to clean but I can see them looking elegant and delicate in a sophisticated space or even a little girls room. And definitely a fun DIY if its your BAM!
ReplyDeleteMaybe in a young girls room until she developed allergies...I must say SLAM
ReplyDeleteSLAM... oh my goodness I don't like that one teeny tiny bit (maybe because I'm scared of birds...)
ReplyDeleteI love the one in the bedroom but they can definitely go over the top. Can I say SLAM-BAM depending upon its presentation?
ReplyDeleteI'm going with slam. I didn't even think about the dust issue! I just know that I'd be irrationally envisioning the whole thing to burst into flames from the light bulb heat. There is also something kind of muppety about it. I almost expect a bird from Jim Henson's menagerie to poke it's head out from under a wing and fix me with a menacing glare. All ridiculous of course - but I don't like it enough to get over the flammability factor (imagined or not).
ReplyDeleteI'd say slam. How on earth would you clean them?
ReplyDeleteNot my thing. Slam!
ReplyDeleteslam... save feathers for fashion!
ReplyDeleteI may be in the minority; I like the feather chandeliers! I mean they'd only work in a certain type of room (like maybe an ultra fabulous size-of-a-room closet) but they're very glamorous. And I did think about the potential fire hazard, but you wouldn't have the light on in the fabulous closet that often. And, if you had an Oprah-esque closet, you probably wouldn't be doing your own dusting. I'm bamming this one and making a mental note for when I have a mega closet. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe must all be cleaners...because I immediately fell in love and immediately thought of the dust. But I think they look AH-MAZE-ING!
ReplyDeleteI'm just laughing at all the opinions on this one...you've got a regular debate going down! Between allergies and dust and phobias, this one seems to be getting a lot of slams...but I would have to say BAM because I just love the look of feathers! They are just so light and whimsical...the look is just so FUN! I would have to say you would probably not find one in my own home because of my practical side (dust/allergies) but they really are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really like it because it's so whimsical and fun. So it's a BAM for me. It would look great in a little girl's bedroom or in a big girly walk-in closet!

I love this look, its BAM BAM for me! So what if there is a little dust issue..
ReplyDeleteBAM for how it looks but a SLAM for the cleaning factor. It's kinda like having a large feather duster hanging over you. Maybe you could take it down every once and a while and dust your whole house a lot quicker! ;)
ReplyDeleteMan, I'm really torn on this, but I am going with slam for my own home. They look lovely in the photos, but the dust situation would bother me.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely whimsy but I say they're a slam. They'd be a huge hassle to clean.
ReplyDeleteThis is tough! On one hand, I kinda like them because they're so unique. But on the other hand, I know I would never want one and it's just not my style. I think I'm gonna have to go with slam. But in the right space, they could totally be a bam, just not in my house :P
ReplyDeleteOh I say BAM, in the right space! I would take one. And the bigger the better - I love me some drama!
ReplyDeleteI'm not crazy about this trend. I don't see it hanging around for too long, so I'm going to say slam. I do think they look great in all the photos above though - just not my thing I guess. I just love this series!
ReplyDeleteI love them! Different soft and so feminine ! lol
ReplyDeleteEeeek, those light fixtures look alive, SLAM! I love the idea of using feathers for some sort of decor, but I am not loving this!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
K
Slam! How in the world would you EVER keep those feathers clean?!
