BAM!!!! I love maps, especially in a boy's room. I particularly like that second to last image- where the turquoise of the map is matched to the wall. Beauty!
Bam for me. I've always loved the classic nature of maps, but I also love how they are being used now in more unconventional ways. Take care, Lori www.lorimayinteriors.com/blog
I can't even tell you how much I love maps...just in general...but these examples are pretty awesome and would've changed my mind if I wasn't on board (c: I especially like unique ones of places that mean something to you...then it's like a secret cool thing...B.A.M.
I actually do like it. The concept seems kind of weird to have maps all over, but with the images I have seen they look amazing! I think maps are a great way to make a space look more masculine.
I enjoy maps in certain situations/locations! I'm new to blogging and will hopefully keep up with some fun things I plan on doing around my home! Adding a map to my entry way was one of them! -Jenn
I'm so torn on maps. Although small doses when the map is meaningful to you is a nice touch, but I don't like the big maps sprawled out in the room. I do think a globe is a nice touch too. Can I do a BLAM? :)
Sorry, this is off subject, but I really love the turquoise paint color in the second to last photo. Any ideas how I can find the name & make of the color?
I love the maps!! I think they are intriguing and maybe they are trending now, but the look has been around for a long time so I say IF you love it go for it!!!! I think they are classic!! Kathysue
BAM. I have an inspiration pic of a room wallpapered in maps that I cut out from a magazine about 10 years ago. I still haven't incorporated the look into my home yet...seems it is about time I should!
Looks like I'm the only one so far to say this: SLAM. But I should not this comes with a disclaimer - I certainly do not dislike maps. Quite the opposite, actually. My father collected topographical, geological, and other types of maps from our many family trips. To suggest cutting them up for a craft project would make him shudder! I think there is beauty in using maps as artwork if it is something that is meaningful to you, that you treasure, and that you can value for all the information it can provide.
I think part of my reason for the SLAM is also the oversaturation of maps in the online design-blog world. Let's do something unique and not always jump on the bandwagon!
Bam! We have a GIANT world map over our sofa. It makes a really great dramatic statement in the room and is a great conversation starter for anyone who visits.
My Name is Elizabeth, and welcome to The Mustard Ceiling!
This blog is dedicated to my obsession of interior design and do-it yourself projects.
I love interior design, making things beautiful on a budget, traveling, cooking, renovation, being outside and of course my wonderful husband and our 2 crazy pooches, Jack and Gracie.
Loving the maps! In the right place, there is something very nostalgic about them in a space.
