Our yard is in dire need of attention.
Honestly, I have never seen as many weeds pop up as quickly as they do in our yard and flower beds....maybe it's just that neither Alfred or myself particularly enjoys yardwork....so we let it slip a little too often.
One thing is for sure, the weeds drive me insane and with the weather getting cooler I decided it was time to take control of the yard, so we don't have the same problems next summer as we have since we moved in, in 2008.
So I did a mini-makeover on the front. I didn't plant anything new (I'm pretty sure this isn't the right time to plant new plants). I weeded our flower bed really well, tilled up the dirt, ripped out some of the old, ugly plants and put down a weed guard and fresh bark.
Next summer we will do more. I just found out that we're going to be living in this house at least another 2 years....so I think it's time to get the outside in order.
This is what I've been working on lately....
Now that that is under control...I'm thinking about new projects to work on inside this fall and winter.
Wow! It looks great. I'm not sure what it is about living in the southwest, but we get a TON of weeds too. It doesn't help that it is so hot...I never feel like going out there to weed!
ReplyDeleteSo much neater!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy!! It looks really great - your hard work definitely paid off. And I love that big window in the front of your house.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been busy. I so need to work in our yard. Maybe between midnight and 6 am. lol Seems like it's way too hot still. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGo you! Love how your dog is overseeing this process. ;) I also tend to spend more time on the inside of the house than the outside...mainly because I have no idea what I am doing with plants.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Big difference.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind doing chores like these. Isn't so rewarding once you are finally done? But man, I can barely keep ahead of the weeds in my yard too! Maybe next spring we'll try some of that weed guard.
Looking good!!! And I see a cute pup in the window!!! Presh! :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly if there was a way to grow pretty weeds, I would be all over it. I can't grow grass on my patio to save my life but it seems to pop up everywhere else! and thanks for stopping by the blog!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Weeds are the bane of my existence. I notice them the most in the beds along the driveway so I try to pull a few out every time I walk to get the mail. A few every day seems to keep it under control better than waiting for once every few weeks!
