Happy Friday!
I don't know about you but I am ready for the weekend. Do you have any big plans? I it might actually be a slow one around here. It's been a busy week finishing up the master bedroom and some new blog design projects. The hubby is working so I think I might just veg out and relax...but before the relaxing begins, it's time for another Roomspiration party!
Today, the party is being hosted by the lovely Rachel of Just a Touch of Gray and it's all about Master Bedrooms!
I am so excited to see Rachel's big reveal. She and her husband have been working on their master bedroom for awhile, and she promised to show it off for the first time today.
Behind the scenes, I've been making some changes to mine as well. When we first moved into our home in 2008, I was dying for a chocolate master bedroom. It was the first wall color I decided on for our home. More about it here and here.
* This has been our master bedroom for the past 3 years.
Well, three years later I was ready for a change and to lighten the room a little.
Here it is now (it still isn't finished, but here are the changes so far)...
A few changes left to be made...
My goal is to lighten and brighten, yet keep it cozy. Some of the dark still needs to go. The furniture set was my husband's before we got married, it's really nice(and the only furniture left from his bachelor days)...so it will stay.
However, I would like to change the rug out to something lighter, maybe something like this...
Chunky Wool Boucle Rug from Pottery Barn
I have ordered some fabric samples to make 2 new decorative pillows for the bed. I am keeping my fingers crossed the samples arrive tomorrow.
I am leaning towards this Robert Allen gray and tan ikat fabric, but I have a few more samples coming too...

Fahri Grape Suzani
Finally, I would like to slip cover my orange slipper chairs. I love the orange, but it doesn't work with the new scheme.
Nest Egg
Oh, and I can't forget the mirror above the bed....no set plans for that yet...maybe paint, maybe change it out for artwork. I'm not sure.
Now, I just have to find the time and money to make the changes, oh and learn how to slipcover slipper chairs.
As you can see, I still have big plans for this room and a lot of unfinished business. I am excited that I took the first step and painted it Behr Silver Sateen and dyed the drapes (more on that in another post).

That looks great! The lighter color is beautiful! The only thing I would do is slipcover the chair. Other than that, I think it looks perfect! Great job! Have a great weekend.

My bedroom is milk chocolate and I'm wanting lighter and brighter too. I really like your mirror even though it's been tagged to be moved out.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, Isn't it funny/sad how much your taste can change in the matter of just 3 years?! Occupational hazard, right? Love the changes you're making. It looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteLooking good in gray! Love the changes so far! I am thinking of dying my ektorp covers gray so I will be interested to read about your curtains!
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks awesome. I love the lighter colors to brighten up the dark wood furniture. It makes it more bold! Great job :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! I mean, your bedroom was gorgeous before and after!! I do love the changes you made... it looks so fresh and relaxing! And your proposed changes... I can't wait to see what you come up with! I'm really digging that grey and tan ikat fabric!! GOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteLooking bright, airy, and pretty Elizabeth - you've done a lot already. Enjoy the changes it looks great! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've already done, Elizabeth! And the grey-and-lime combo feels very fresh and certainly balances out the darkness of the wood furniture (which still works really well). Love it! Off to check out Rachel's room!
ReplyDeleteWowza, girl! I love the new changes going on! I already loved it before, but I think I might have to move in now (c: Just kidding...kind of...(c:
ReplyDeleteWow...I love your room and the gray/lime ikat and purple suzani are gorgeous! You couldn't go wrong with any of the fabrics you posted.
ReplyDeleteThe new color looks so nice and bright. Very pretty. I liked the chocolate also-cozy like a cave. Whatever you do it will be gorgeous. I'm in Arizona where we have a plethora of shoebox ranch houses. What you have done with yours is so elegant.
ReplyDeleteI actually love the mirror above the bed but I do understand how you can get bored looking at the same thing. I love the changes so far...I'm sticking around because I wanna see the rest;)
ReplyDeleteLOOOOVE the chandelier! Such a pretty bedroom! The ikat would look awesome, I think!
ReplyDeletelove the lighter, brighter version. I think the lime is fabulous.... looking forward to the rest...
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is gorgeous! Everything looks so nice! You pulled everything together with such great taste!
ReplyDeleteI love the changes you are making! I was thinking about doing something similar throughout my house in the next year or so... though I still have some unfinished rooms that I probably should consider "finishing" first. When I say unfinished, I mean unstarted. :) But yeah, I love how it's looking and your plans! Loving the ikats!
