BAM for Thomas O'Brien's Hick's Pendant.
If you're in the market for a Hick's pendant, or two, you can find more information at Circa Lighting's website.
If you're not in the market to buy lighting, but want to see some seriously gorgeous eye candy,
I recommend scrolling through Circa Lighting's website anyway.

Are you a fan, BAM or SLAM!?
Are you a fan, BAM or SLAM!?
I'm totally a fan of open shelving!! They are so classic. Plates, bowls, etc become accessories and add lots of character and depth to the space. They are definitely on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteI would say bam, but I'm not sure if I would have it in my whole kitchen. I need places to hide the messes :)
ReplyDeletelook great...but i much rather prefer cupboards.....no stress about the mess!
ReplyDeleteLove LOVE open kitchen shelving and cannot wait to have it myself....but already a little nervous about the dust. Agree with J & J, must be plenty of closed cabinets to hide all my secrets. :-)

I say bam, but I like open shelving best in small doses. In magazines it looks great to have all that open shelving but in real life it seems like it would just create a lot extra cleaning. I love open shelving in small and galley style kitchens. It's amazing how much it can open up and make a smaller kitchen look really big!
ReplyDeleteDitto to what Carmel said! Love the look in magazines, but in reality my dishes just don't stack up :) I'd like a few open shelves for my pretty things, but I need closed cabinets for the rest of the clutter! If I were a total neat freak with no children, I'd totally go for the open shelves!
ReplyDeleteBam, Bam Bam! I love open shelving.
ReplyDeleteTotal Bam!!! I love being able to see my pretty dishes, and it is SO efficient to have everything at your fingertips when cooking. No more dough covered fingers attempting to open up the cabinet!
ReplyDeleteTricking one. I think I'm leaning towards BAM becauase they are so pretty but a kitchen needs to be a practical and beautiful space so I could see slam to. BAM!
ReplyDeleteBam. I love it for everyday items that you're gonna use often. OR the complete opposite for display of pretty collections or serving pieces. It's tricky though!
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm hosting a custom postcard giveaway if you're interested!
bam bam bam bam! love it want it!
ReplyDeleteBam if you have display worthy dishes!
ReplyDeleteBam in small doses. It looks fabulous but has to be practical, not a dust magnet, so use to store everyday stuff and clean often. A whole kitchen worth would be a slam for me...

BAM- but not for me! Im a hoarder and it shows. So instead I have to drool over everyone elses open-ness :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a huge BAM for me! But, I know I don't have little children that require plastic cups (dreading it) and all of my plates/cups/dishes match. So I'm all for open shelving...it's a must at my next house if I can help it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Definitely a BAM!!
ReplyDeleteBAM for me! Love it, but just for the pretty stuff. I would have to have plenty of hiding spots too.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely *adore* the look of open shelving and if you have pretty stuff to display, it is a MUST! However, practically speaking...I *HAVE* to have a TON of storage and it's not exactly conducive to hiding all my crap...HELP! I'm torn! What does that make it? A slambam? A bamslam? A BLAM?
ReplyDeleteIt's a bam from me. As long as it's styled nicely and not full of junk :)
ReplyDeleteI HAVE a mixture of open and closed--solid doors, glass, chicken wire!
ReplyDeleteYes, it requires some extra cleaning, but I L-O-V-E getting to see my very large collection of china, crystal, and silver!
Because I see it--I use it!
Catherine
Slam...where would I hide all of my junk???
ReplyDeleteI love the look of open doors, but I would never be able to keep it clean! Slam for me, Bam for anyone who can!
ReplyDeleteBam for looks, slam for practicality. I have too much of a hodge podge of stuff in my cabinets to pull this look off. Then again, it might be a good excuse to cull. :)

okay - so, we're actually putting open shelves in our newly remodeled kitchen. and while i know i'll love the look and versatility of them...i'm deeply suspicious of all the kitchens i see them in all over the web...suspicious as in "they have enough money to pay the local neighborhood kid to come in and dust twice a month". so, i guess, i now have to find a neighborhood kid who will work for brownies or cookies, the only currency around these parts.
ReplyDeleteBam! Though I have to say I don't think I have enough alternative storage for the peanut butter jars and MANY boxes of cereal that need to be housed in my little kitchen. It can really look great though.
ReplyDeleteI love the Hicks pendant. BAM! I don't really like the open shelving for myself if it is out in the open. I have it in my pantry that I can close off so company does not have to see. I like a clean look with all the stuff behind doors. Also, I am too lazy to dust all the open shelving so I am going to have to say no.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say Bam! because I just love open shelving. I've always wanted it, but I have always been afraid of dust settling on the shelves and dishes, especially since living in the Midwest makes it incredibly hard to keep up with dust!!
ReplyDeleteSlam. Although I really do love the look, you need to clean every week or have a cleaning person clean every week for you to maintain, just not practical in my opinion - and yes I need to hide my junk.
ReplyDeleteBam! We have some, and plan on adding more. My mom said, "I feel like things get dirty." And I asked if she had ever picked up a plate/bowl/mug off my open shelves and thought it needed to be washed before using it, and she said NO. So, BAM!
ReplyDeleteWill you do a Bam or Slam on short curtains, please?
