BAM or SLAM!?

  1. This is a good one Elizabeth! I like short curtains in that kitchen window but otherwise I'm not a fan of having them end at the window casing. Slam!

  2. Not a fan. It always looks to me like the homeowner ran out of fabric.

  3. I give it a BAM! it's a nice pop of color and texture!

  4. Immediately when I read it, I thought--SLAM. BUT, when I look at these photos, I think, it can work. However, I do think I have to give it a SLAM. I prefer long curtains no doubt.

  5. Bam on a small kitchen window in a cottage, SLAM anywhere else!

  6. slam. i just don't know if i can come to terms with it... they remind me of country style 80's curtains.

  7. BAM...I like it, however it has to be a patterned fabric for me!

  8. I say BAM only in a kitchen , childs room or laundry room. Anyplace else looks like the dorky kid wearing high waters. (And yes I was one of those kids *hangs head in shame*)

  9. Ok in the kitchen...would still prefer a roman shade. Otherwise, a complete slam.

  10. SLAM! I have not been able to adjust to this look quite yet. I love a long panel brisking the floor!

  11. I agree with the rest, I really only like in certain places like kitchen, child's room, perhaps a small space like a laundry or mud room otherwise slam. Your examples are spot on though Elizabeth and in those they look good!

  12. I would give it a BAM if used sparingly.
I love it on a kitchen window but I wouldn't want to see every room in the house with them. Then it looks like you just cheaped out on your curtain fabric.
That being said, it is a good way to save some dough on an expensive fabric...

  13. oh, and i do love the look of open shelving, just not sure i could abide by the neatness needed to maintain them. it's a battle with myself over whether i am going to use them in my own kitchen. they look great in small kitchens like mine but you have to be sooooo neat!!!!! and have co-ordinating dishes!

  14. I grew up with shorter curtains in some homes (more budget-friendly). But I feel longer is better (although I am not a fan of the puddled-on-the-floor look). I feel it looks incomplete. I know these are becoming popular again but I am going for slam.

  15. Slam. Looks like a fear of committment. If you're going to do curtains, do curtains!!

  16. I hate to be wishy washy, but BAM if the design of the space calls for short curtains and SLAM if the curtains are just done willy nilly and there is the availability to do to-the-floor curtains. If I had to choose, BAM, why not.

  17. Good question and good pictures. I'm going with Lisa@ShineYourLight, I like the kitchen curtains but SLAM the rest-#2 reminds me of a motor-home.

  18. I can't believe I missed last weeks B/S what the heck? It's a slam....I don't like curtains but I love fabric..crazy!

  19. I think short curtains work in the right space such as all these photos you have shown but it is not my favorite look. I dont usually like curtains, just a simple valance or stationary panels. so I would say Bam in the right spot

  20. Slam!
the ones in the kitchen will get dirty (over the sink) and the rest look like they ran out of $$$$. There are only a few places that short curtains will work.

  21. I have to give it a slam. It's one of the design rules I learned in school and I never seem to be able to get past that.

  22. I'll give Urban Grace's curtains a BAM, because short curtins over the sink is beautiful IMO, but all the others a total SLAM. They look like they are waiting for a flood.

  23. I only like them in a kitchen window, like Erika's at Urban Grace. Otherwise, not a fan of them in other rooms in the house.

  24. These are a slam for me, except on windows over countertops (i.e. kitchen or laundry room). They just don't look right proportionally in other spaces. Good one!

  25. Slam. Can't handle them...I feel like they are Urkel pants on a window. Am I dating myself for bringing up Urkel? Don't care.

  26. BAM for those pretty ones in the kitchen. Otherwise SLAM - they remind me of the short curtains I grew up with in my parent's house. I was so thrilled when my mother finally switched them all out for proper floor-length drapes when I was a teen.

  27. A big 'ole Slam for me---just don't like them. In any application.

  28. My first slam yet. I loathe short curtains. I think they could not look less tailored. I hate to say it but I think they are horrid.
