Tell Me Tuesday(Thursday)...Bam or Slam!

Wow, I can't believe it!
We had a PERFECT BAM last week for wood paneling, 100% BAM
(I don't know if that has ever happened on BAM or SLAM)

Global design is a popular trend circulating through the design world right now. What exactly do I mean by global? A combination of traditional and contemporary, paired with natural elements, exotic textiles and worldly finds.

What you end up with an eclectic space that feels traditional and contemporary-as if the room has been designed slowly over time.

How you feel about going global?

  1. BAM, and you just reminded me about a blanket I brought home from South Africa a few years ago that I probably like now. Woo hoo!

I would like to start collecting art from travels from now on...

  5. BAM in the right home. Its not my personal taste for my home but I do love the style. As Martin Bullard says its De-lish!

  6. I am totally a global fan personally. I have the floor pillows, the ornate ethnic furniture, some traditional pieces and some contemporary..I guess that stems partially from having lived in different countries - I like to mix things up. Definitely a Bam for me.

  7. I'm a fan! That's exactly what I love about these rooms...it looks like they have been brought together over time. I love the textiles in the first and last photo...and those andirons, the fireplace mantel, the art work in that last photo is gorgeous!

  8. BAM- I love eclectic and global elements make a space interesting. However, don't overdo- it can look chaotic & cluttered.

  9. Absolutely, BAM! I love the ecletic, collected look - just more edited - I think some of the special pieces get lost if there are too many.

  11. bam! i love the eclecticism it adds! i prefer it in small doses, such as a throw pillow, or dhurrie rug, but i definitely like the added touch.

  12. Not my cup of moroccan tea but I can appreciate its beauty so I have to say slam.

  13. I'm 50/50, based on the pics you chose.

I love it it touches- especially in urban apartments.

But when there's a ton my mind goes crazy trying to organize all that pattern! Ah!

Also, missed last week's, but I liked that pic with the paneling in the bathroom. Not enough to actually add it to my bathroom, but if it were already there I'd try to rock it!

  15. B-A-A-A-A-M-!!!
My first thought was, "what other way would you decorate?" The best rooms ARE mixed, and collected over time," or at least, LOOK that way. Otherwise, they just look "Store-Bought."

  18. I can appreciate it and know that global is very now, but I'm not a fan personally. Slam for me too.

  19. BAM! BAM! BAM! i think they have finally found a category for the homes that so many people TRULY live in and can create with or without a designer. not everyone has "global" in such big doses of color, pattern and texture, but--for me--it's unpredictable, flexible and works with kids!!

  20. Total BAM!! Without the global/ethnic influence it just looks like the little woman of the house is busy in the kitchen making a congealed salad....a tad staid, grandma-ish, safe.

  21. BAM all the way, this is a trend that you can take to the extreme and go overboard and somehow it still looks good! I love it the best in the details and accessories.
