Happy Friday!

I just finished downloading of our anniversary trip photos and wanted to share a few of my favorite's from our anniversary hike, in Ruiodoso, NM. Fall is always my favorite time to hit the trails. I love the cool days, the bright blue skies and the colors in the changing leaves.

Our hike was about 6 miles round trip, hiking to one of the highest points in Ruiodoso. As you can see the landscape varied quite a bit along the way.

What I loved most about this hike (other than being out in the woods hiking with Alfred) was the scent of pine along the trail. I don't ever recall a hike where the pine was so fresh and strong, it made me think of Christmas and the smell of fresh Christmas trees.

All in all a wonderful day! I wish we could escape to the mountains more often...

Now that summer is creeping in, I've been a little homesick.

Homesick for the salt and the sand, the deep blue sky and the warm ocean breeze.

Every summer for as long as I can remember, in June, we would pack up the mini-van
and travel to South Carolina for summer vacation.

We would spend our days on the beach and the evenings playing putt putt golf.

As I got older I began to think our annual family vacation was LAME..I never understood why we had to travel back to Myrtle Beach, SC EVERY year.

We knew every haunt, played every putt putt course...but it also became our
home away from home.

In 2006, I moved to SC, I met my husband there.

He was stationed in Charleston and I was living in Myrtle Beach.

I never really thought that I considered it home, but the past few weeks I have not been able to get the low country out of my head...

I miss Charleston more than Myrtle Beach, but I would love to be on another family vacation this week playing putt putt and visiting all of the hold haunts.

I'm packing my bags, we're headed out of town. My husband is crazy! He signed up for a quadrathalon.

Saturday he has voluntarily signed up to partake in The 28th Annual Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathalon. He will be starting at 6500 ft. on a road bike. He will bike 13 miles and climb 1700 ft. Next, he will be running 5 miles on a gravel road, climbing 1,250 ft. in elevation. After that (if he is still alive!) is the 2 mile cross-country ski and 1 mile snowshoe to an elevation of 11,300 ft.

Sounds Bad, right!? That's only half of it, he then takes a shot, turns around and does it all backwards.

What about me?! I'm hanging back on this one...I will be cheerleader and DD (yup, designated driver). I have a feeling after this is finished, he will not be able to move.

Wish us luck, it should be an exciting weekend! I hope everyone has a great one.
