Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

I just finished downloading of our anniversary trip photos and wanted to share a few of my favorite's from our anniversary hike, in Ruiodoso, NM. Fall is always my favorite time to hit the trails. I love the cool days, the bright blue skies and the colors in the changing leaves.

Our hike was about 6 miles round trip, hiking to one of the highest points in Ruiodoso. As you can see the landscape varied quite a bit along the way.

What I loved most about this hike (other than being out in the woods hiking with Alfred) was the scent of pine along the trail. I don't ever recall a hike where the pine was so fresh and strong, it made me think of Christmas and the smell of fresh Christmas trees.

All in all a wonderful day! I wish we could escape to the mountains more often...

Client Project: Stripes in the Entry!

I was contacted a couple months ago by Ashley, a reader, who needed help with her entryway.

She wanted her entry to "be a preview of the rest of their home. A place that warmly welcomes guests"and was having a hard time choosing colors that would seamlessly transition from the entryway to the attached living room.

The colors used throughout the home are mainly neutral-warm gray's with a punch of color in the living room. Ashley was having drapery panels made using Covington, Wilmington fabric,
which got me really excited....look at all of the brilliant colors!

This brightly colored fabric provided the perfect inspiration to really make Ashley's entry pop. She wanted to make the entry warm and inviting, so I focused on using warm tones in the space.

To make the space dramatic as you entered the home, I proposed to Ashley that she paint the room using wide horizontal stripes in mustard yellow and cream.

She is still putting the final touches on the entry, but she was kind enough to let me share some of the progress pictures with you today.

What a difference! It always amazes me what a little paint can do and stripes are always a great way to add a little flare to a space.

If you're thinking about adding stripes to your space, head over and check out Dana's tutorial, The Secret to Stripe Sanity, at Make Them Wonder blog, it will make all of the difference.

Thanks Ashley for letting me share your project today!

Ok, this one was CLOSE!

Snakeskin is one of those trends that you either get it or you don't. Me, being terrified of snakes, cannot jump on this band wagon. Although, I must admit...I am kind of liking the snakeskin tray.

In the end, last week was a SLAM
! (14 to 10)

This week, let's talking about mixing things up in the dining room. How do you feel about using different seating styles around the dining table?

Combining different styles adds a touch of the unexpected. It creates a comfortable, casual atmosphere that looks as if it has been designed slowly over time.

Roomspiration: Featured Laundry Rooms

I hope you all had a terrific weekend!

I must admit, it went by way too fast for me. I've been off schedule all week since the hubby and I took a couple days off in the middle of last week to celebrate our anniversary.

Thank you all for such sweet anniversary wishes. It truly amazes me how wonderful and supportive this blogging community is, I always enjoy receiving your comments on the blog.

Today, the hostesses of the Roomspiration party wanted to get together on our blogs and share a few of the rooms linked up. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting all of the laundry room/mudrooms you linked up- it never ceases to amaze me the talent in blogland...

Let's show off a few, shall we?

The first featured laundry room is by Jennifer at Dimples and Tangles. Jennifer designed everything around the fabulous coral chandelier in the photo. She originally purchased it at a thrift store, gave it an awesome makeover and it set the tone for the whole redesign, check out the rest of the project here.

Next up is a project after my own heart. Michelle from Decor And The Dog linked up the remodel of her mudroom. First of all I love the tall board and batten and the built-in bench, but what I love most about this room is how Michelle and Nate (her husband) built the room with Ike, their wire fox terrier in mind. To find out how they designed the room for Ike, click here.

I have to admit, I am a sucker for stripes. Stripes always seem to be the right answer to a room. They add interest and pattern, but still act as a neutral. This laundry room caught my attention from the moment I saw the thumbnail linked up.

This remodel started with a broken drier belt and ended up fun and chic. Head on over to My Old Country House for more details.

I love the blue and white horizontal stripes, paired with the turquoise door and touches of pink.

Finally, one last room to share. It is amazing what a little paint can do to brighten up a room. Marci, from Timber and Lace, simply painted the inside of the mudroom door a bright, sunny yellow and it really brightened up the room and made it pop.

Sometimes the smallest of changes can make a huge impact, it definitely did in Marci's mudroom.

Thank you again to everyone that linked up and made Roomspiration a success! I enjoyed all of the eye candy.

All of the hostesses are featuring a few of the linked up rooms today, so head on over and check them out.

Tell Me Tuesday(Thursday)...Bam or Slam!

Wow, I can't believe it!
We had a PERFECT BAM last week for wood paneling, 100% BAM
(I don't know if that has ever happened on BAM or SLAM)

Global design is a popular trend circulating through the design world right now. What exactly do I mean by global? A combination of traditional and contemporary, paired with natural elements, exotic textiles and worldly finds.

What you end up with an eclectic space that feels traditional and contemporary-as if the room has been designed slowly over time.

How you feel about going global?

Textured Felt Pillow: Living Savvy

Happy Humpday everyone!

Halfway there, the weekend will be here before you know it. Hubby and I are spending a couple days in the mountains celebrating our 3rd anniversary. I can't believe it has already been 3 years, the time has flown by.

Today, I wanted to share an awesome tutorial that caught my eye the other day while visiting, Tiffany's blog, Living Savvy. I am always amazed at how well Tiffany knows her way around the sewing machine, she is incredible and the last tutorial she featured is no exception.

She created a textured pillow using felt, the texture is so fun. Here are a few photos and the link to how she did it...

Isn't the texture fun? She said it was easy too.

For more information on how to create this cool, textured pillow visit Living Savvy blog.

I was thinking this just might be what I need (in charcoal gray) for my living room this winter.

What do you think?
